The brain and body are amazing...they communicate and react together based on past experiences, injuries, and habits. However, sometimes that can work against getting the body to full recovery. Why? Because once the brain realizes that a certain position or the way you walk results in pain in the body, it will train the body to move away from that activity to reduce pain. However, once the pain is gone, we need to train the brain to develop the habit of corrected positioning, gait, etc.
This is where my Looser Foot Correction comes in. As many of my patients can tell you, this is one of my "go to" tests to see if they are feeding into poor body positioning when standing and walking. If we do not correct this, then the torsion into the ankles, knees, hips, pelvis, back, and even up into the neck WILL return.
Here are the written instructions, or watch the attached video! I do find that, in the beginning, it is best to tape this to your bathroom mirror as a reminder. Often it only takes one or two DAYS for the brain to learn proper positioning.
TAPE THIS TO YOUR BATHROOM MIRROR(S)…
After going to the bathroom, stand tall, looking in the mirror
· March in place 4 times QUICKLY
· Look down at your feet:
If they are symmetrical and pointed straight ahead, you are DONE If not, then…
LOOK DOWN at your feet as you SLOWLY march in place 4 times, making sure you end with symmetry and pointed straight ahead, then…
LOOK UP and march in place 4 times QUICKLY
Keep doing this until you are straight and symmetrical with the QUICK marching
· ONCE YOU ARE CONSISTENTLY STRAIGHT WITH THE FIRST QUICK MARCH:
Do this just EVERY MORNING for ONE MONTH
MAINTENANCE: at least ONCE a WEEK
